Today in this blog we are going to tell you about the education systems in various countries, mostly talking about universities, colleges and how they function along with what they accept and offer.
We will tell you about the education systems in countries like the UK, Canada, Australia, etc.
Australia
The Education system in Australia is three-tiered, that is, it comprises of:
-Primary Education (Initial school years from kindergarten to grade 6)
-Secondary Education (middle and high school)
-Tertiary Education (higher education from universities)
There are three main types of higher education which lead to Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degrees.
Universities in Australia accept IBDP as well as IGCSE scores of students for admission.
They are considered to be an efficient means of assessing the academic qualifications of students along with their readiness for college.
Australia provides extreme protection for international students through the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act), which protects and enhances Australia's reputation for quality education, provides tuition protection and supports the integrity of the student visa program, known as the Subclass 500 student visa. The Subclass 500 is a student visa that allows an individual to live and study in Australia for a time period of up to 5 years. It is for the sole purpose of studying in an educational institution.
United States
The USA or United States of America is one of the top countries known for its academic excellence worldwide.
The Undergraduate degree includes core courses, major and minor. The four years are known as Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior.
All universities in the United States accept IBDP scores and most of them also accept IGCSE scores.
USA has about 1 million international students as per data recorded in the session of 2019-20.
The United States is home to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, along with many other Ivy league colleges.
An important aspect to look at when planning to apply to universities in Australia are your standardized test scores on SAT's, AP's, etc. as well as English language tests like IELTS or TOEFL, depending on university to university as one might prefer one over the other.
Canada
Education in Canada is generally divided into primary education, followed by secondary education and post-secondary.
Canada has been consistently featuring among the top 5 countries with the best higher education systems in the world as per QS rankings and is also considered to be the third best country for education in the world as of 2020.
Education is one of the highest priorities for the Canadian government.
IGCSE is the world's most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds. Leading US and Canadian universities require Cambridge International AS and A Levels.
Canadian universities are perfectly fine and accepting of IB students, as most universities in the world recognize IB predicted scores and the IB program as valid qualifications due to their curriculum as well as difficulty levels.
Canada is one of the top countries in terms of the number of international students that it has.
